The Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation hosted the Camp of Life Education at the First Primary School at Xiushui Township of northern Sichuan between 29th and 30th July 2012 for the education of ‘Protecting the Spiritual Environment’.

Dharma Drum Mountain hosted three camps at the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education since the first camp was conducted on 28 July 2012, and the last camp was held on 12 August 2012.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the introduction of “Protecting the Spiritual Environment” by Venerable Master Sheng Yen, the Tien Nan Monastery of Dharma Drum Mountain in Sanxia District of New Taipei City hosted a 4-day summer camp for a total of 109 teachers studying Chan (Zen) meditation , and cultivating the mindset of mindfulness.

On the morning of 19 July 2012, Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong delivered an inspirational speech to over 100 civil servants from the Public Health Department (PHD) by warm invitation of the Commissioner of New Taipei City Government, Xue-Rong Lin.

The Dharma Drum Mountain Humanitarian and Social Improvement Foundation (DDMHSIF) announced the winners of the 4th Caring for Life Award in the afternoon of 24th of July 2012 at Taipei’s DDM Degui Academy.

On 28 June, 2012, Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain Venerable Guo Dong attended a groundbreaking ceremony for a new library benefacted by DDM at Minxin High School of Shuxue Township, Sichuan.

On 22 June 2012, Venerable Guo Xuan of the DDM Sangha Community was invited to attend a meeting hosted by the Ministry of Interior (MOI) at the International Convention Center of National Taiwan University in Taipei, introducing DDM’s effort on eco-burial at the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education.

The DDM World Center for Buddhist Education hosted a four-day summer camp from 12th to 16th July 2012. The camp gave 150 children an opportunity to experience Chan joy, to sense mindful tranquility and learn more about Buddhism.
