The reconstructions of the Hlaing Tharyar SoPos State Primary School and the Thanlyin Pyin Thaung Village State Midle School were successfully completed on 16 April 2009 in Yangon, Myanmar, with financial and technological support from Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF).

The reconstructions of the Hlaing Tharyar SoPos State Primary School and the Thanlyin Pyin Thaung Village State Midle School were successfully completed on 16 April 2009 in Yangon, Myanmar, with financial and technological support from Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF).

On 9 April 2009, a group of 18 distinguished guests from Haiti sponsored by the Taoism Goldenmom Cultural Exchange Association made their first visit to the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township for the purposes of learning about Chinese Buddhism and the idea of Protecting Spiritual Environment.
On the afternoon of 13 June 2009, a talent show and the joint exhibitions held at Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township marked the thirtieth anniversary of Chung Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies (CHIBS) and the third anniversary of Dharma Drum Buddhist College (DDBC).

With much appreciation for the assistance of local government as DDM’s disaster relief team enters Laonong and Baolai villages on August 16th.
In the afternoon of 14 April 2009, the Director of the Center for Interreligious Dialogue of Focolare Movement, Stella Chiu (Chiu Yuen Ling), paid her first visit to the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education for promoting mutual friendship and giving her warmest tribute to Venerable Master Sheng Yen.
On 7 September 2009, Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong made his second trip to southern Taiwan to express his utmost gratitude to the volunteers of the DDM relief team, and to express his warmest care and concern to the survivors of the 88 Flood.
On the morning of August 18 2009, at Yunlai Monastery, Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong was briefed on DDM's relief efforts in regions hit by Typhoon Morakat, carried out between August 8th and 17th.

One year has passed since Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) began its humanitarian relief work in areas struck by the deadly earthquake in Sichuan Province of China last year.
The Dharma Drum Degui Academy was opened on 29 March 2009 with the mission of providing services and care to the elderly and youth and other disadvantaged people. The opening of this Academy is a new landmark in the work of DDM in Protecting the Spiritual Environment.

Dharma Drum Buddhist College (DDBC) entered a collaborative agreement with Jinshan Hospital for the program of fostering clinical Buddhist chaplains.
