The reconstructions of the Hlaing Tharyar SoPos State Primary School and the Thanlyin Pyin Thaung Village State Midle School were successfully completed on 16 April 2009 in Yangon, Myanmar, with financial and technological support from Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF).

On the morning of 11 January 2009, Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM) hosted the 14th Buddhist style joint wedding ceremony at Zhongshan Hall of Yangmingshan in Taipei City. The joint wedding event aims to promote Buddhist etiquettes within society.

On the morning of 27 October, 2009, Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM) was honorably awarded by Ministry of the Interior (MOI) for its compassionate works in southern and eastern Taiwan during the 88 Flood brought by Typhoon Morakot in early August.

On 30 August 2009, a special Grand Dharma Ritual for the 88 Flood hosted by the Kaoshiung County Government was held at the Weiwu Art Center in Kaohsiung County.

On 28 July 2009, the Ministry of Interior (MIO) awarded Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Foundation, Nung Chan Monastery, Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Culture and Zhaiming Monastery awards for outstanding contributions to charitable work and social education in Taiwan.
