DDM gives thanks to the medical taskforce of National Taiwan University Hospital

On 28 February 2009, the Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain, Venerable Guo Dong, hosted the medical team from the National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) on a tour of the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township.

This tour was a way to express the warmest gratitude to the team including the Deputy Superintendent of NTUH, Dr. Her Hongneng, members of the taskforce and their relatives for their attentive long-term health care provided to Venerable Master Sheng Yen.

The DDM Sangha community, led by the Abbot President, guided the group to the various signature locations around the Center, including the Founder's Quarters, the Wish-Fulfilling Guan Yin Hall, the Founding History Memorial Hall and the Eco-Friendly Memorial Garden, all of which chronicle the many inspirational moments and memories of the life of the Master.

In his welcome comments, the Abbot President, on behalf of the DDM Sangha community, accoladed the Team for their unrelenting efforts in the provision of care to the Master, and vowed that the pupils and the DDM Sangha community will continue to propagate Dharma through the legacy of the Master.

Dr Her conveyed his warmest tribute to the memory of the Master. He stated that caring for the Master, whom he saw as a compassionate teacher with great wisdom, was a rare privilege and a unique experience with many valuable lessons learnt. He was grateful for the opportunity to care for the Master.

Neuroblastoma specialist Dr Pu Yongxiao, who headed the care provision to the Master in the past four years, expressed his gratitude in having personally understand the meaning of "the universe may one day perish, yet my vows are eternal" from caring for the Master. This has made him actively ponder what he could further contribute to the public in the future.

The visit concluded with photo-shooting of the group in front of the Wish-Fulfilling Guan Yin statue in the Wish-Fulfilling Buddha Hall.
