The reconstructions of the Hlaing Tharyar SoPos State Primary School and the Thanlyin Pyin Thaung Village State Midle School were successfully completed on 16 April 2009 in Yangon, Myanmar, with financial and technological support from Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF).

The relief team of Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) headed to the capital of Philippines, Manila, to offer relief materials and spiritual care for those affected by Typhoon Ketsana that flooded the region, causing severe causalities in late September.

Although Typhoon Parma did not make landfall in Taiwan, the heavy rainfall it carried still flooded many townships in northeastern Taiwan, especially in the region of Ilan County, on October 6th, 2009.

In the wake of Typhoon Morakat which inflicted severe floods on southern Taiwan and caused a deadly mudslide in eastern Taiwan between 7 and 9 August, Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) set up a relief station at Liukuei Township of Kaohsiung County in southern Taiwan on 14 August.

In the wake of Typhoon Morakat which inflicted severe floods on southern Taiwan and caused a deadly mudslide in eastern Taiwan between 7 and 9 August, Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) set up a relief station at Liukuei Township of Kaohsiung County in southern Taiwan on 14 August.

It has been ten days since Typhoon Morakat inflicted major flood in southern Taiwan and caused deadly mudslides in eastern Taiwan on 8 August 2009.


The sub-forum, titled "Protection of Spiritual Environment", of the 2nd World Buddhist Forum on 31 March 2009 is highly anticipated and has received great interest.
Thirty-two teachers from the Life Education Resource Center visited Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township for a two-day Life Education and the Purification of the Mind program from 9 to 10 April 2009.

On the morning of August 23, 2009, about thirty venerables and volunteers gathered at the Xinkai Village of Liukuei Township in Kaohsiung County to chant the Heart Sutra and the Amitabha Sutra with palms joined, praying for those who lost their lives in Typhoon Morakot to enter “nirvana”, a peaceful state of no birth and no death.
On August 8th, Typhoon Morakot swept through southern Taiwan, destroyed houses and tore up roads in its path, rendering scores of people homeless and killing hundreds. Relief supplies and humanitarian assistance poured into affected areas in the wake of the killer typhoon.
