DDMSWCF's relief efforts move to the next phase - Mind Relief

It has been ten days since Typhoon Morakat inflicted major flood in southern Taiwan and caused deadly mudslides in eastern Taiwan on 8 August 2009.

Nearly ten thousand volunteers responded to the compassionate call from Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) in the works of cleaning up muddy houses and the devastated surroundings.

These days, volunteers and medical workers could be easily spotted in any corner of typhoon-inflicted regions, including Linbian Township in Pintung County, Qishan Township in Kaohsiung County, Matou Township and Xuejia Township in Tainan County. Their compassionate efforts have brought the stricken people hope and lit up the light inside everyone.

DDMSWCF wants to express its utmost gratitude towards all the effort contributed by these volunteers and also for their kind assistance.

Following recruiting cleaning volunteers, DDMSWCF's relief works have moved to the next phase on 17 August. The relief efforts will focus on providing the affected people living subsidies and stipends to the children of those who lost their life, as well as on spiritual counseling.

DDMSWCF established the Mind Relief Station at Liukuei Township in Kaohsiung County, and it will also continue its work in spiritual counseling, in the hope that the affected could walk out their grief and feel peace in mind in no time.
