DDM receives Awards from Ministry of Interior
On 28 July 2009, the Ministry of Interior (MIO) awarded Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Foundation, Nung Chan Monastery, Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Culture and Zhaiming Monastery awards for outstanding contributions to charitable work and social education in Taiwan.
The Vice Provost of DDM Social Welfare and Charity Foundation, Venerable Guo Qi and the Prior of Zhaiming Monastery, Venerable Guo Chi, attended the ceremony on behalf of Dharma Drum Mountain.
Both the Premier, Chao-Shiuan Liu, and the Minister of Interior, Liao-Yi Liao, were present at the award ceremony and emphasized in their speeches that Taiwan enjoys religious freedom and a vibrant religious environment.
This environment results in cultural and spirituality growth which are valuable assets in helping to create a more peaceful society in Taiwan.
