On 25 December 2010, Zhaiming Monastery in Taoyuan held the 2010 End-of-Year Philanthropic Party for disadvantaged families living in the neighboring districts of Daxi, Zhongli and Xinchu. More than one thousand people attended the party and received blessings from Zhaiming’s monastics.

The four-day International Conference on Contemporary Chinese Buddhism and Thoughts of Master Sheng Yen opened on the morning of 28 May, 2010, at the GIS International Conference Hall of Taipei’s National Taiwan University. This conference is the third event hosted by the Sheng Yen Education Foundation, which aims to promote awareness of the words and teachings of the late Master Sheng Yen in society, to ‘uplift the character of humanity and build a pure land on earth’.
The ceremony of the ‘new’ Nung Chan Monastery finally took place on the morning of 22 May, 2010, at the current site of the Nung Chan Monastery in Taipei. In the future, the new monastery will provide the public with better services, including Chan meditation sessions and lessons on Dharma.
After the devastating earthquake that struck Xiushui Township, in the northern Sichuan Province of China in 2008, Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) initiated post-disaster reconstruction projects which have finally reaped results.
It has been two months since the deadly earthquake of magnitude 7 struck Haiti. As the reconstruction work began to unfold, Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) dispatched Mr. Chu-Qi Huang (also the Vice President of DDM’s General Association of Dharma Upholders), to Haiti as the representative for post-disaster evaluation from April 14 to 21, 2010.
