Vice President of ARATS Visits the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education

The Vice President of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) in mainland China, Mr. Min An, recently paid his first visit to the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education located in the Jinshan Township of Taipei County on the morning of 29 May, 2010.

On hand to welcome him on behalf of the DDM Sangha Community were Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain, Venerable Guo Dong, Deputy Abbot, Venerable Guo Hui; President of Dharma Practice Society of DDM, Mr. Chan-Ban Chang and Vice President of General Association of Dharma Upholders, Mr. Chu-Chi Huang.

The Abbot President expressed gratitude for the people’s long-term commitment and support of DDM’s work in the interest of all sentient beings. More importantly, DDM has made education a priority in the promotion of the ideas of DDM and the late Master Sheng Yen. To this end, the Dharma Drum University is currently being constructed, with the aim of aspiring to nurture more talented individuals for the good of society and the propagation of Chinese Buddhism.

ARATS’s Vice President Mr. Min An expressed his gratitude to DDM for the warm reception and encouraged DDM to promote humanitarianism in line with Buddhist compassion, to facilitate robust religious exchange and to assist in the maintenance of peace across the Taiwan Strait.

The meeting ended with gift exchanges and a tour of the Grand Buddha Hall, the Wish Fulfilling Guanyin Hall and the Funding History Memorial Hall.
