On 25 December 2010, Zhaiming Monastery in Taoyuan held the 2010 End-of-Year Philanthropic Party for disadvantaged families living in the neighboring districts of Daxi, Zhongli and Xinchu. More than one thousand people attended the party and received blessings from Zhaiming’s monastics.

From 25 to 27 September, 2010, Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM) specially hosted ‘The 2010 International Forum on Charity and Humanitarian Care’ at the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township, Taipei County, to promote exchange regarding environmentalism and emergency relief work with other domestic and abroad non-governmental organizations.
Starting from 21 October 2010, Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) successfully recruited hundreds of volunteers to help clean up debris left by Typhoon Megi in Yilan County, Taiwan.
Torrential rainfall from Typhoon Megi triggered widespread flash flooding and landslides throughout Yilan County. According to the Central Weather Bureau, a record 939 mm of rain fell in a 24-hour span between 20 and 21 October, 2010.
On 6 October, 2010, nineteen students from the Department of Religious Studies, Long Island University in United States of America arrived at the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township, Taipei County, for a three-day program on Chan Buddhism.
Nine volunteers from Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) living in Pintung County, the Southern-most county in Taiwan, organized a meaningful five-day event of visiting the elderly living in Pintung’s Zhaochou Township from 17 to 21 September, 2010.
On 6 October, 2010, Venerable Guo Qi, Secretary General of Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) and Mr. Chao-Lung Hsieh, Agent Secretary General of the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China (Taiwan), jointly signed an agreement for the construction of the Rian Activity Center in the Rian Community locates in the town of Fanlu in Jiayi County.
Over a thousand people gathered at the Nung Chan Monastery in Beitou District of Taipei City on 26 September 2010 to make vows to follow the teachings of the ‘Five Precepts’ and become upholders of Buddhism.
Typhoon Fanapi swept over Taiwan on 18th and 19th September, 2010, leaving a trail of death and destruction in its path. Severely affected by serious flooding were the southern Taiwan’s communities, especially those located below sea level in the Kaohsiung and Pintung Counties.
