DDMSWCF donates towards the construction of the Rian Activity Centre in Fanlu Township.

On 6 October, 2010, Venerable Guo Qi, Secretary General of Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) and Mr. Chao-Lung Hsieh, Agent Secretary General of the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China (Taiwan), jointly signed an agreement for the construction of the Rian Activity Center in the Rian Community locates in the town of Fanlu in Jiayi County.

The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China in Taipei. DDMSWCF agreed to fund the construction of the Center that will be carried out by the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China.

The Rian Activity Center aims to serve for residents of the Rian Community and who are the victims of the Morakot Typhoon that struck Jiayi County on August 8, 2009, also known as the “88 Flood”.

The Rian Community was also constructed through a joint collaboration between DDMSWCF and the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China and the community was inaugurated on 12 September, 2010.

Both Secretary Generals agreed that the agreement could serve as a shining example of how effective collaboration between different humanitarian organizations can truly benefit the community.
