As part of a commitment to care and educate, Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) have, for the past 14 years, granted much-needed scholarships to students in underprivileged families. Apart from financial assistance, DDM also organizes field trips and life education, with the aim to uplift the character of humanity and in the hope that it will encourage students to give back to society in the future.

In the evening of 21 April 2013, the Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain came to Taiwan’s National Theater’s plaza to join with several tens of thousands of people to pray together for Taiwan and the world.

On the evening of 24 February 2013, also known as the Lantern Festival, a concert was held at the newly inaugurated Shuiyue Practice Center of Nung Chan Monastery in Taipei, in remembrance of the late Venerable Master Shen Yen, founder of Dharma Drum Mountain.
On the evening of the 23rd February 2013, also traditionally known as the Lantern Festival, the Xingxin Monastery in eastern Taiwan Taitung City held a ceremony “Transmitting the Light (of Dharma)” in commemoration of the life and teachings of Venerable Master Sheng Yen, the founder of Dharma Drum Mountain.
