The Shuiyue Practice Center Holds Music Concert in Memory of Master Sheng Yen

On the evening of 24 February 2013, also known as the Lantern Festival, a concert was held at the newly inaugurated Shuiyue Practice Center of Nung Chan Monastery in Taipei, in remembrance of the late Venerable Master Shen Yen, founder of Dharma Drum Mountain.

The concert was webcast live in order to share the Dharma joy and to pay the warmest tributes to the Master together with the people who could not attend the event.

DDM Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong, said that it has been four years since the Master had passed away. To remember the Master’s compassion and teachings, Dharma Drum Mountain set 23 February as the date of ‘Passing on the Light of Wisdom’. DDM global branches held a ceremony to commemorate Master Sheng Yen on the same day.

The concert held at the Shuiyue Practice Center of Nung Chan Monastery on 24 February carried a special meaning. It was the center’s first New Year Full Moon, symbolizing the moment of DDM reunion and a promise of fulfilling the Master’s compassionate vows to ‘build a pure land on earth’.
