As political and economic ties between Africa and Asia grow, it is important that the religious leaders of the two continents collaborate closely; to share experiences of humanitarian works, and to ponder over interfaith opportunities, challenges, cooperation and interactions. This is necessary to cultivate global compassion which would greatly "uplift the character of humanity" in accordance to Dharma Drum Mountain's philosophy of peace and harmony.

The Chinese Buddhist Electronic Text Association has achieved a new milestone on the digitalization of Buddhist scriptures.
The first great Liberation Assembly of Water and Land was held by the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township, Taipei County, from 8 to 15 December 2007. DDM believes that the assembly could bring peace, happiness and hope to all sentient beings which have existed in the past, the present and in the future.
On 4 November 2007, 1046 people participated in the Refuge-Taking ceremony at Nung Chan Monastery as part of their initiation into Buddhism. Also in attendance at this solemn occasion were their relatives and an audience of approximately four hundred people.
To celebrate the birth of Buddha Sakyamuni and Mother’s Day, Dharma Drum Mountain has had specially prepared a number of activities at DDM World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township, Taipei County, on every weekend in the month of May.

On the afternoon of 30 June, 2007, Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM/Fagushan) hosted a seminar at the Grand Hotel, Taipei City to launch Venerable Master Sheng Yen's new campaign on the Six Ethics to increase public awareness of the significance of ethical values in achieving peace and harmony in society.
On the afternoon of 7 August, 2007, Venerable Guo Zhao formally received the seal from Dr. Zeng Ji-Qun to be the Director of the Preparatory Office of Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM) Humanistic and Social College, which aims to push for the accomplishment of Dharma Drum University.
On the morning of 15 April, 2007, Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM) hosted its Refuge-Taking Ceremony at Nung Chan Monastery. Nearly 1800 people took refuge in the Three Jewels: Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, under Venerable Master Sheng Yen, formally becoming Buddhist followers.
On the morning of 16 September, 2007, Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM) hosted a joint school graduation and the opening ceremony of Chung Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies, the Dharma Drum Sangha University and Dharma Drum Buddhist College at the International Conference Hall of DDM's World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township, Taipei County.
Venerable Master Sheng Yen, accompanied by the Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong, arrived in Tainan City on 2 June 2007 to mark the inauguration of "The Tour Exhibition of Venerable Master Sheng Yen's Works of Chinese Calligraphy".
Following a 10-day exhibition in Taichung City, Venerable Master Sheng Yen's Chinese calligraphy artworks were transported to the Culture Center of Kaohsiung City for exhibition from 11 to 22 August 2007.
