Venerable Guo Zhao's Appointment as Director of the Preparatory Office for the success of Dharma Drum University
On the afternoon of 7 August, 2007, Venerable Guo Zhao formally received the seal from Dr. Zeng Ji-Qun to be the Director of the Preparatory Office of Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM) Humanistic and Social College, which aims to push for the accomplishment of Dharma Drum University.
She is the third person to hold this position. The handover ceremony was held at DDM World Center for Buddhist Education and witnessed by its Founder, Venerable Master Sheng Yen.
The Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain, Venerable Guo Dong, the President of Dharma Drum Buddhist College, Venerable Hui Min, the former President of Feng Chia University, Dr. Liu An-Zhi, and the President of DDM General Association of Dharma Upholders, Mr. Chen Jia-Nan, were all present to give their warmest blessings.
Venerable Master Sheng Yen praised Dr. Zeng for his great vow to be a DDM lifelong volunteer and for donating his pension to DDM in support for Dharma Drum University.
Dr. Zeng was presented with a wooden tablet inscribed with Chinese characters "A Pure Land on Earth" in appreciation for his contributions.
Venerable Guo Dong said that Dr. Zeng has dedicated himself to the promotion of DDM's 'Three Types of Education' in society, namely 'Education through Public Outreach', 'Education through Caring Service' and 'Education through Academics'. It is through his efforts that a solid foundation has been laid to carry out this work.
The Abbot President said Venerable Guo Zhao will further develop DDM humanistic ethos and the various campaigns in line with Venerable Master Sheng Yen's compassionate vows. He also thanked Dr. Zheng for his dedication to the good causes of Dharma Drum University since 1997, following serving as the curator of National Library in Taipei.
In her acceptance speech, Venerable Guo Zhao thanked the College Committee for giving her the opportunity to lead the institution and Dr. Zheng for his valuable contribution and support for the future growth and development of Dharma Drum University.
She further stated that she will continue the fine work of her predecessors so that Dharma Drum University will become a world renowned institution to educate and train members of the Buddhist Sangha.
