On March 16, under the order of the state government, the 8-million population San Francisco Bay Area became the first region of compulsory home sequester in North American during the COVID-19 pandemic. To the residents, this may have been the most significant change to their daily lives since World War II, whereas this is a required course of Buddhist practices for the followers of the DDM San Francisco Bay Area Center.

On the afternoon of 29 January 2011, Dharma Drum Mountain in Vancouver (DDM Vancouver) specially hosted a hot-pot party for volunteers in celebration for the new year. Approximately 300 volunteers living in the Vancouver metropolitan area attended.

On 28 February, 2010, Dharma Drum Mountain Vancouver (DDM Vancouver) in the hope of attracting more non-Chinese speakers to get to know Chan (Zen), offered a one-day program, “Living Chan”, led by the Abbot of Dharma Drum Retreat Center in New York, Venerable Guo Xing.
A series of Dharma talks on the Sutra of Eight Realizations of Great Beings was presented by Venerable Guo Che in San Francisco from 14 January to 17 February, 2010.

When in the summer of 2009, two volunteers kindly donated twenty drums to Dharma Drum Mountain in Vancouver (DDM Vancouver), Venerable Guo Shu, encouraged by the Director of DDM Vancouver, formed a drum-playing group - the Drum Team of DDM Vancouver.
Dharma Drum Mountain (Sydney) hosted a ceremony on the 21st February 2010 to mark the first anniversary of the passing of Master Sheng Yen, founder of Dharma Drum Mountain.

On the afternoon of 6th February, 2010, more than two hundred people gathered at Dharma Drum Mountain in Vancouver (DDM Vancouver) to commemorate one year since Master Sheng Yen’s passing, and concurrently, for the celebration of the 2010 New Year.
On Sunday, November 15, 2009, DDRC resident monastic Chang Chi Fashi gave a talk entitled, “The Eightfold Path to Joyful Living.” Fashi's talk was based on the Eightfold Noble Path taught by the Buddha to “help people let go of suffering and embrace happiness.”
