Nearly ten thousand devotees attended the ritual of Sending off the Sages toward the end of Dharma Drum Mountain Great Compassion Water and Land Dharma Service, in the afternoon of December 5, 2015. For the ritual, all the monastics and lay Buddhists sent off the four kinds of sages and six groups of ordinary beings in the ten spiritual realms with utmost gratitude and joyful mind by sincerely chanting the Buddha’s name, marking the completion of the Service.

In the Dharma ceremony, abbot president, Ven. Guo Dong (果東)emphasized that having a thankful heart is in itself Protecting the Spiritual Environment. The participants all vowed to learn the Dharma, support Buddhism, and spread the Buddha’s teaching, making an effort to build a pure land on Earth.

After realizing that rescuers lack drysuits when proceeding with the search and rescue mission for the crashed TransAsia Flight GE235, the Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain, Ven. Guo Dong, soon designated DDMSWCF to donate 6 drysuits to the Disaster Emergency Operation Center of Taipei City on the evening of Feb. 6, 2015.
After the crash of TransAsia Flight GE235 happened on the morning of Feb. 4, the Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain, Ven. Guo Dong, right away indicated the domestic and overseas affiliates of DDM to set tablets to liberate the deceased and quell the calamities of the injured, and also appealed to DDM’s followers all over the world for praying blessings for those who need care and comfort.
A TransAsia flight GE-235 crashed into the Keelung River shortly after takeoff from Taipei Songshan Airport, en route to Kinmen. The crash has caused heavy casualties of passengers and crew at 10:00 a.m. on February 4, 2015. Once obtaining the information, volunteers of Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation immediately headed for the hospital to help and reassure the injured and their families. Besides, DDM has also set the section to pray for blessings for the injured, and liberate the deceased through chanting mantras by ourselves. The Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain, Ven. Guo Dong, delivered a Dharma talk for blessing all in 2015. He encouraged all to use wisdom to transform circumstances and manifest our bright mind, and to use compassion to benefit all the sentient beings.
The fourth lecture on the Wisdom of Fa Hua (Lotus Sutra in Chinese) lecture series began at 2 p.m. on November 16, 2014 at the Taichung City Hall. The theme for this lecture was “Recondition Vexation, Regenerate Wisdom”. Ven. Hui Min, President of the Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts (DILA), with guest speakers Jiang Xun, a cultural luminary, and Lo Xiu Fen, a successful entrepreneur discussed issues revolving around this theme, focusing on attaining happiness through practicing generosity.
