Some Thoughts after Attending the 5-day Begin Anew Retreat, in Vancouver

My name is Nadine, I have been meditating daily for over a year. I have attended 2 Chan retreats at Dharma Drum Vancouver Centre (DDVC). One 7-day retreat and one 5-day retreat.

My experience at the meditation center DDVC was very powerful. I am thankful to have had a beautiful facility to meditate in, with kind and understanding people who bring the Chan practice alive. I am astonished at the team of volunteers that all help to make the retreats happen. The Meditation Hall is clean, bright, quiet and beautiful. There are all the mats, cushions and towels needed to be comfortable for sitting. Food is simple and humble yet satisfyin

My experience was that I was able to go very deeply into my meditation practice. The Dharma teachers that I sat with were compassionate, understanding, clear, articulate, very practiced. I honestly have been deeply deeply changed from my experiences with the Chan center. The depth of the teachings, the guidance and understanding in the meditation process have all given me what feels like a very solid foundation in my meditation practice. It has helped me navigate my way through my personal commitment to self-care through meditation, mindfulness and compassion. I feel supported and know I have a place to go and practice with other meditators.
