DDM Malaysia takes part in Fourth Bookfest 2009 in Kuala Lumpur

Dharma Drum Mountain Malaysia (DDM Malaysia) entered the Fourth Bookfest 2009, the biggest book festival in Southeast Asia, from 22 to 31 August 2009, with hopes of further propagating compassionate ideals of Venerable Master Sheng Yen. They received strong support from DDM Cultural Centre in Taiwan for this event.

This was the first time of DDM Malaysia to collaborate with other Buddhist Organizations – Foguangshan and Tzu chi – in preparation of the Buddhism and the Mind section of the exhibition.

On the day before its opening, DDM Malaysia Venerable Chang Hui and the Abbot President of Foguangshan, Venerable Jui Chen, co-presided a simple and solemn Purification Ritual with all their volunteers.

The books of Venerable Master Sheng Yen were meticulously selected by DDM Malaysia which sold out in a short time, arousing visitors’ interests and sparking their consequent enquiries regarding activities planned by DDM Malaysia.

Director of the DDM Cultural Center, Venerable Guo Xian, hosted a seminar to share her reflections upon the teachings of Master Sheng Yen to these people. She also informed them of the recent relief activities Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) partook in, such as the recent 88 Flood which provided a scope of what the foundation entails.

The Fourth Bookfest 2009 was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
