Venerable Guo Yuan and Venerable Chang Qin Delivered Dharma Talks in Malaysia

On 22 May 2009, Vice Provost of Chan Practice Center, Venerable Guo Yuan and Venerable Chang Qin of the Lamp Transmission Department commenced their 10-day Dharma tour in Malaysia.

In addition to giving Dharma speeches, the honored Venerables presided a purification ritual for Dharma Drum Mountain in Malaysia and Chan practice classes for instructors. These included training classes for Primary Instructor of Chan Meditation, English Instructor of Chan Meditation and Assistant Instructor of Chan Meditation.

The four-day training classes attracted twelve participants from Singapore. These classes not only improved the participants’ leadership skills in mediation classes but also provided new insights in Chan meditation and its applications.

On the night of 27 May, Venerable Guo Yuan cited many inspirational stories from Chan Master Sheng Yen during the lecture entitled “Make an Appointment with Chan”. He especially told stories on how to converse the mind in adversities and transforming it into positive strength and uplifting inner characters.

Venerable Guo Yuan also received interviews from local presses including the Star, the Nanyang Siang Pau and the Merit, whereby the benefits of the Dharma and Chan Meditation were conveyed to the public.

The ten-day Dharma tour was inspirational, joyful and ended enriched with compassion.
