Sichuan’s Minxin High School Hosts Event for Spiritual Environmentalism

Minxin High School, located in Xiushui Township of Mianyang City in Sichuan, held the first ‘Week of Spiritual Environmentalism and Art’ event from 8 to 10 December 2010 to educate students about Spiritual Environmentalism through various programs.

Inspirational programs included painting, Chinese calligraphy and writing in line with the subject of ‘108 Adages of Wisdom of Venerable Master Sheng Yen’. Students were encouraged to enter a competition in one of the programs offered, and prizes were awarded to 126 out of 1290 participants.

According to the President of Minxin Mr. Tong, winning a prize was not the only aim for the students. He said that the school was also looking forward to seeing students experience the strength of ‘thankfulness’ in the mind through the programs.

On the evening of 9 December, a Fire Camp was held at the athletic field where they joyfully sang, danced, played, and each student wrote down the words of thankfulness on a blank poster to express their deepest gratitude to DDMSWCF’s enduring humanitarian works in Mianyang after the devastating earthquake of May 2008.
