DDMSWCF hosts the two day camp for Jiaxian students
On 11 and 12 December 2010, volunteers from Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) hosted a two-day Camp at the Xialin Primary School of Miaoli County.
Most volunteers are currently working at the Peace of Mind Station at Jiaxian District of Kaohsiung City.
36 students and their parents from Jiaxian signed up for the event which aimed at providing remote and disadvantaged students (affected by the 88 Flood in 2009) an opportunity to uplift self-value and to grow in the mind through various challenges and interesting activities including tree climbing, outdoor cooking and kiting.
Students also visited the Dharma Drum Mountain’s Baoyun Monastery in Taichung. They were warmly welcomed by Director of Baoyun Monastery, Venerable Guo Yun, and introduced to Buddhist etiquettes and Spiritual Environmentalism.
The two-day event was short but was filled with much joy and laughter. Students expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the efforts of the volunteers through exchange of hugs and farewell.
