DDBC collaborates with Jinshan Hospital to foster clinical Buddhist chaplains

Dharma Drum Buddhist College (DDBC) entered a collaborative agreement with Jinshan Hospital for the program of fostering clinical Buddhist chaplains.

The signing ceremony was held on the afternoon of October 27, 2009 in DDBC's International Conference Room. The agreement was signed by President of DDBC, Venerable Huimin, and Superintendent of Jinshan Hospital, Dr. Li Tenglung.

DDM's Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong, President of Buddhist Lotus Hospice Care Foundation, Dr. Chen Rongji, as well as various guests and the volunteers from the Yende Association of Jinshan Hospital also graced the event to give their blessings.

Abbot President expressed his utmost gratitude to the National Taiwan University Hospital, Jinshan Hospital, Jinshan Township Hall and the Buddhist Lotus Hospice Care Foundation for their compassionate assistance, which facilitated the successful launch of the program.

He went on to say that he hopes there will be more clinical Buddhist chaplains so that they too can help patients and their families to understand the living wisdom of the impermanence life and hence will be able to see their life in a new light.

Dr. Chen Rongji stated that this collaboration represented an important milestone in the history of Buddhism in Taiwan. He believes that in the future the program of training clinical Buddhist chaplains will also be incorporated in the curriculum of every Buddhist college in Taiwan.
