The Fourth Great Compassion Water and Land Dharma Service succeeds

The 8-day Fourth Great Compassion Water and Land Service at Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township of Taipei County marked its successful end on 5 December 2010, following the Dharma ritual of ‘Sending Off the Holy Ones’.

The number participating the service this year set a new record of more than 120 thousand people (including those on the Internet), marking a new milestone of promoting orthodox Chinese Buddhism across the world.

In line with the spirit of ‘unveiling great compassion of oneself, praying for the ceasing of suffering of all sentient beings’, the Service’s task force for the first time held various activities at the Center with the purpose of introducing the Dharma Service to first-time participants, in addition to presenting lectures that have been hosted at the altars for many years.

Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong said that the DDM Sangha Community has committed to the spirit of the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen and to promote the ideas of ‘building a pure land on earth’ through the Three Types of Education in society and of the Spiritual Environmentalism, in order to unlock the treasure hidden in one’s mind and to transform life with the Dharma for happiness and peace on earth.

To conclude the Service, the Abbot President led everyone with joined palms to make vows to promote the Dharma and cultivate ‘a pure land on earth’ for one’s wellbeing.
