Vice Mayor of Mianyang visits DDM to express gratitude
On 5 December, 2010, Vice Mayor of Mianyang City, Sichuan, Mr. Qi Zhao, and 19 other members visited the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township of Taipei County.
Vice Mayor Zhao stated that the aim of the visit was to thank DDM’s compassion of dispatching relief teams to help victims soon after the deadly earthquake in northern Sichuan. Moreover, the constructions donated by DDM, including The Medical Center in Chenjiaba, Xiushui Primary School and The Medical Center in Xiushui, were successfully inaugurated within two years following the earthquake. Zhao praised that the buildings, with their superior design and quality, have become landmarks in Mianyang City.
DDM’s Vice Abbot President, Venerable Guo Pin, and Secretary General of DDM Social Welfare and Charity Foundation, Venerable Guo Qi, held the welcome reception for the Mianyang delegation.
Venerable Guo Pin first welcomed Vice Mayor Zhao’s visit on behalf of the DDM Sangha Community. He mentioned that efforts made by DDM’s relief teams in Sichuan were to commit to the idea of ‘Protecting Spiritual Environment’ and every team member commits to the rehabilitation of the victims with the minds of learning and dedication.
The reception was joyful and ended in the exchange of gifts.
