Registration for the 2016 DDM Awakening Camp begins! Experience a blissful and joyful life in a Buddhist Monastery！
What is life? Who am I? How do people get real ease of mind? Have you ever been confused about the scenery in front of you while standing on the corner of your life? If so, we suggest you temporarily put aside life disturbances and bring simple belongings to experience an 11-day monastic retreat. With monastic advisors leading and companionship with other students from different places looking for life answers, you can together embrace the monastic precepts while walking, standing, sitting and lying down in a peaceful and quiet environment to feel an awakening and experience a transcendence of life.
Dharma Drum Sangha University welcomes youth who meet the requirements to seize the opportunity and sign up online for the 13th Awakening Camp held at the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education from January 23rd (Sat) to February 2nd (Tue) 2016. By listening to the drum and bell sounds in the morning and evening, students will follow the monastic schedule to learn more of the Buddhist way of life. Practice scripture chanting, observe precepts and offer services. Through these monastic life experiences, one can awake to the value and direction of your life.
How will camp life inspire your life? It is the best gift I have received in life said Yanju, a student from the last camp. By saying this, he describes how the awakening camp made the direction of his own character cultivation clearer through learning scripture chanting, observing precepts and practicing meditation. In this cultivation he hopes to help others in life. By understanding that silence is golden while doing walking meditation with no words, he also realized how strong the power of healing from nature is to human beings and how small we are. Another student shared that she has never had these kinds of feelings in her life as she could now clearly feel every movement while walking, standing, sitting and lying down as well as moving or being quiet.
