DDBC Hosts the Two-Day International Symposium on the Chan Tradition

On the 26th and the 27th of October, 2012, the Dharma Drum Buddhist College (DDBC) hosted a special international conference entitled ‘Chan Tradition in Buddhism: Origin and Development’ in discussion of Chan’s origin and development in Buddhism – at the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education.

Almost a hundred scholars and researchers from Taiwan, mainland China, United States of America, Germany, Japan, and Italy attended. The conference was held to interpret Chan’s tradition, inheritance and influence that had developed in the original form of Buddhism, the Mahayana Buddhism, the Hinayana Buddhism, and the Tibetan Buddhism – as well as to clarify their correlations.
