DDMSWCF Haiti mission

The Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) set off on 7 October 2012 for a five-day mission to Haiti, which suffered a deadly earthquake in January 2012, killing approximately 270,000, injuring over 3 million and destroying 90% of buildings in the capital Port-au-Prince.

This is the DDMSWCF’s third mission to Haiti to inspect post-earthquake construction projects, while disseminating Master Sheng Yen’s teachings of ‘Protecting the Spiritual Environment.
DDM set up a special project to oversee humanitarian relief and rebuilding works soon after the earthquake occurred, and has been organising relief material allotment and medical support for local orphanages and hospitals in collaboration with Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos (Spanish for “Our Little Brothers and Sisters”, a Christian mission) Deutschland.
The Executive Director of DDMSWCF, Mr Hung-Chi Chiang, has pledged to follow up post-earthquake projects in Haiti, as well as visiting the orphanage and the hospital in Port-au-Prince, which are run by DDM’s partners NPH Deutschland. Mr Hung expressed thank on behalf of DDM to the technicians and diplomats dispatched from Taipei, who have selflessly contributed to DDMSWCF’s Haiti works.
