Deputy Minister of SARA Mainland China Visits DDM

On the morning of 11 November 2011, a group of honorable guests, including the Deputy Minister of China’s State Administration for Religious Affairs (SARA), Mr. Lebin Zhang, and Vice President of The Buddhist Association of China, Venerable Yinshun, visited the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education.

Vice President of Dharma Drum Mountain, Venerable Guo Pin, received the guests on behalf of the DDM Sangha Community and the Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong.

In his welcome speech, Venerable Guo Pin stated that the DDM Center for Buddhist Education is dedicated to promoting ‘Protection of Spiritual Environment’ in society for peace, and “Eco-life Style for Sustainable Development.”

It was Deputy Minister Zhang’s first visit to DDM, and he said he was impressed by the compassionate teachings and works of the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen both in Taiwan and abroad. He was also moved by the humanitarian efforts of DDM in Sichuan. The Deputy Minister stated that he looked forward to seeing more people benefit from the teachings of the Master for peace within individuals and in society.
