The event will be held at the Divinity school at University of Chicago (Hyde Park), in Room #106. This event is planned to be held mainly in English. Chinese parts will be translated. Event will be free (donationswelcome).

Venerable Guo-Xing

Venerable Guo-Xing, heir of Master Sheng Yen’s Dharma, is currently head of the Chan Department in the headquarters of DDM in Taiwan. He was ordained under Chan Master Sheng Yen in 1986 and assisted the Master between 1987 and 2007, during which time he led meditation retreats in Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and the United States.

Formerly serving 8 years as the abbot of Chan Meditation Center and Dharma Drum Retreat Center in New York, Venerable Guo-Xing served as counselor for DDM’s Chan Meditation Group. His specialty is in meditation and the Surangama Sutra. This sutra contains a great deal of meditation related contents which enable practitioners to better cultivate themselves, work on precepts, stabilization and wisdom.
