CPPCC Anxian Committee President Visits DDM to Express Gratitude
On the morning of 18 September, 2011, 16 delegates visiting from Anxian in Sichuan arrived at the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education (DDMSWCF) to offer their gratitude towards DDM’s humanitarian work.
The VIP visitors included the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Anxian Committee President from Sichuan, Zhongkuei Zhang; the Vice Secretary of the Anxian Committee of the Communist Party of China, Jianyi Liang; and the Director of National People Congress (NPC) of Anxian, Sichuan, Anbao Zhu.
The Abbot President of DDM, Venerable Guo Dong, and the Secretary General of DDM Social Welfare and Charity Foundation, Venerable Guo Qi, received the guests.
During the meeting, President Zhang said that Anxian deeply appreciated DDMSWCF’s long-term humanitarian aid, such as the reconstruction of the school campus, the hospital and houses, following a deadly earthquake in May 2008. He also said that Anxian’s people are all grateful from the depths in their hearts for the restoration of their beautiful homeland that was once devastated by the quake.
The Abbot President stated that DDMSWCF’s humanitarian relief works are in line with the teachings and compassion of the Buddha and the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen.
“We are also grateful that the people of Anxian have been able to recover both mentally and physically”, Venerable Guo Dong expressed. He also emphasized that DDM will continue to care and support those in need in Sichuan, and most importantly, encourage the stabilization of one’s mind.
