DDMSWCF Linbian Hosts One-day Event for the Elderly
On 25 August, 2011, Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) in the Linbian Township of Kaohsiung City organized a one-day event for the elderly.
The day was held as part of DDMSWCF’s efforts at recognizing the importance of taking care of the elderly, both physically and mentally and was filled with activities to both stimulate the mind and body spiritually.
A total of 29 elderly persons were invited to join the event along with another 30 volunteers who came to assist in the activities. Also present to lend her support, blessings and encouragement was Vice Secretary of DDMSWCF, Venerable Chang Fa.
The day started with a short and healthy exercise session which was then followed by the chanting of various Buddhist sutras, praying for world peace and ended with a fun-filled session where participants and volunteers learned to make Japanese sushi together.
In her message, Venerable Chang Fa encouraged the participants to continue to hold on to a positive living attitude towards everything with gratitude in their hearts for having a healthy and happy life.
