Twenty Students Receive Ordination to Become Monastics at DDM World Center

On 28 August, 2011, the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education held the Tonsure Ceremony for twenty Sangha University students who made their commitment to officially become Buddhist monastics.

The Tonsure Ceremony was held in the Grand Buddha Hall and presided by Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong, and Vice Abbot President, Venerable Guo Hui.

Standing before the Buddha statues they made their compassionate vows and received their ordination from the Abbot President. Each newly ordained monastic also prostrated before their parents as a symbol of bidding farewell to their parents and at the same time reaffirming their commitment to the Three Jewels of Buddhism.

The Abbot President encouraged them to diligently uphold the precepts, practice meditation and continue to develop greater wisdom, in order to contribute in alleviating the suffering of all living-beings and for their own liberation.
