Former President of Maha Bodhi Society in India Visits the DDM World Center

Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Modi, former President of Maha Bodhi Society in India and current Chairperson of Spice Telecom, paid his first visit to the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan District of New Taipei City on the morning of 31 July, 2011.

Dr. Modi was honorably accompanied by Mr. Chou-Jie Huang (President of Sunplus Technologies), and Mr Bin-Bin Hsueh (President of HT Mobile Incorporation). This was also Mr. Huang’s and Mr. Hsueh’s first time to the DDM World Center.

Abbot President of DDM, Venerable Guo Dong, greeted the honorable guests and took them on a tour of the Center, including the Grand Buddha Hall, the Wish Fulfilling Guanyin Hall, and the Founding Memorial Hall.

During the tour, Dr. Modi and other honorable guests were all very impressed by the atmosphere of Chan (Zen) that is so naturally displayed throughout the Center. They were also very impressed by the Center’s magnificent scenery.

Dr. Modi recalled his honorable visit to the late most venerable Master Sheng Yen at the Chan Meditation Center, New York, on 6 November, 2004.

“The Master said that peace is the most significant spirit in Buddhism. It is not merely about stopping wars; it is the arising of mindful peace from within.”

If we are to follow the Buddha’s wisdom and compassion for the purification of one’s mind, high-end technologies can be very useful, Venerable Guo Dong commented.
