Buddhist College of Minnan Visits the DDM World Center

On the morning of 13 July, 2011, sixty Buddhist monastics from the Buddhist College of Minnan from the southern Fujian Province of mainland China visited the Dharma Drum Mountain World College for Buddhist Education in the Jinshan District of Taipei City.

This was the first time that the College and Dharma Drum Mountain had been able to meet.

The group was headed by the President of the College, Venerable Master Shen Hui, who had been the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen’s close Dharma friend.

To honor Venerable Master Shen Hui, Venerable Guo Dong, Abbot President of DDM, Venerable Guo Hui, Vice Abbot President of DDM, Venerable Guo Jing, President of Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies and Venerable Guo Guang, Vice President of DDM Sangha University, were all present to welcome the group at the bus terminal at DDM.

Following the Abbot President’s welcoming remarks, Venerable Master Shen Hui first thanked DDM’s hospitality and said he was delighted to come to the DDM World Center. He stated that despite the fact that Master Sheng Yen had renounced his Dharma body into nirvana; his vows can be seen in the growth and achievements of DDM.

Moreover, Venerable Master Shen Hui said that he was also looking forward to seeing both academic and cultural exchanges between the College and Dharma Drum Mountain in the near future to further the transmission of the Dharma and the purification of one’s mind.

After almost an hour of discussion, the Abbot President took Venerable Master Shen Hui on a tour of the DDM World Center, including the Grand Buddha Hall, the Founding History of Memorial Hall, and the Wish-Fulfilling Guanyin Hall.
