DDMSWCF Offers Financial Support for Disadvantaged Students in Taitung

On 29 May 2011, Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) offered special financial support to 23 financially disadvantaged students in Taitung (eastern Taiwan).

This was the eighteenth time that DDMSWCF participated in the distribution of financial resources at the Xinxing Monastery, specifically for those financially disadvantaged students living in remote areas of Taitung.

The director of Xinxing Monastery, Venerable Guo Zhen, said the purpose of this event was to encourage financially disadvantaged students to pursue their dreams on campus, by helping in lessening obstacles such as financial hardship.

Since 29 May also happened to be the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, the event culminated with the traditional ritual of making of rice dumplings together.

This activity allowed all who were present to take part in the traditions of celebrating the cultural festival, and was very much enjoyed!
