DDMSWCF Holds Joyful Program for Elderly in Baolai
The Peace of Mind Relief Station, of Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) in Liukuei District of Kaohsiung City, held a joyful half-day program for the elderly on the morning of 7 June 2011 in Baolai.
The program took place in the Baolai Community of Liukuei District and offered DDMSWCF’s warmest care to those who were aged 65 or above.
The jolly event began with free health examinations for the elderly, including the taking of blood pressure and tests for diabetes, eyesight and osteoporosis.
The volunteers then led the elderly in a slow Eight Form Moving Meditation, helping them to relax their bodies and their minds, and to experience the slow breathing resulting from the practice.
A birthday party for those who were born in April, May, and June wrapped up the joyful event.
For volunteers of Liukuei’s Peace of Mind Relief Station, nothing was more rewarding than to see the beautiful smiles glowing on the faces of the participants.
