DDMSWCF Offers Financial Help to Morakot-Afflicted Students in Jiaxian
On 10 April 2011, Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation offered financial assistance awards to a total of 125 Morakot-afflicted students in Jiaxian District of Kaohsiung City in the hope of encouraging them to commit to their studies, despite living in difficulties caused by Typhoon Morakot in August 2009.
The award presentation ceremony was held at the Ji Lai Ecological Resort Farm by the Peace of Mind Relief Station in Jiaxian of DDMSWCF. A total of 218 people attended this event, including friends and families of the recipients.
In addition, various fun outdoor games were planned in the afternoon in order to nurture participants’ interest in Chan and promote understanding of the idea of Spiritual Environmentalism.
Vice Secretary General of DDMSWCF, Venerable Chang Fa, also attended the event to show her support for the students, and encouraged everyone to live at present and cherish what we have in order to attain happiness.
