DDMSWCF offers financial help to Morakot-afflicted students in Liukuei

On 26 March 2011, the Peace of Mind Relief Station in Liukuei District, Kaohsiung City, which operates under the Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation, offered financial assistance to a total of 277 students who were disadvantaged by Typhoon Morakot, the deadliest typhoon to impact Taiwan in recorded history.

Most of the young students were residents of the Liukuei District which was badly affected by the typhoon in August 2009, with significant loss of life and property.

Since the disaster, DDMSWCF has been dedicated to helping the victims of Morakot to reconstruct their homeland and also helping financially disadvantaged students return to their campus.

Vice Secretary General of DDMSWCF, Venerable Chang Fa, said that she was looking forward to seeing these lovely students be nurtured with compassion, like little seeds of virtue, as they grow and learn.
