DDM Hosts Dharma Assembly for Transmitting the Light Ceremony in Tainan

Following two Dharma assemblies held respectively in Taipei and Taichung, the third Dharma Assembly for Transmitting the Light Ceremony was held at the main auditorium of National University of Tainan on 26 February 2011.

The event attracted over two thousand Buddhists from the counties of Yunlin, Jiayi and Tainan, filling the assembly with warmth and compassion.

Six members which made up ‘The Compassion Pilgrimage’ group, consisting of DDM monastics and lay practitioners, also arrived on schedule to participate in the event. Their hard march was aimed to honor the hardship of what the Venerable Master Sheng Yen had gone through for Dharma Drum Mountain and is viewed as the way to honor their vows of practicing and passing on the compassionate teachings of the Master.

In his address, Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong encouraged every Buddhist to continuously pass on the compassionate vows made by the late Venerable Master ShengYen for the cultivation of self-merit and for the interest of sentient beings. “From now on, let’s light up the heart inside for ourselves and others, so that society can become more peaceful and more positive energy can be spread,” the Abbot President said.
