DDMSWCF Conducts 2011 Winter Camp for Teenagers in Liukuei

Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) conducted a three-day camp from 21 to 23 January 2011 at Ji Lai Ecological Resort Farm of Kaohsiung City in order to continue caring for teenagers in Liukuei who are victims of the 88 Flood that occurred in 2008.

Its purpose was to teach the teenagers how to boost their self-confidence and how to tap the immense potential they possess.

A total of 100 people participated in the event including instructors and volunteers. Most of the teenagers who attended were from Liukuei High School.

Venerable Chang Fa, the Vice Secretary General of DDMSWCF, hoped that students would learn from the programs that self-confidence is in fact formed through the understanding of the self. She stated that self-confidence can only be generated after one has understood and recognized one’s self.

The programs were thoughtfully designed to be educational, interesting, interactive and inspirational for students. According to Venerable Chang Fa, instead of remaining shy and lacking in confidence, after the three-day program the students displayed far more open, active and energetic attitudes, their spirit sparkling on their faces. “They have really enjoyed the programs,” she observed.
