Ziyun Monastery Hosts the End-of-Year Philanthropic Party

On 23 January 2011, the Ziyun Monastery of Dharma Drum Mountain in Kaohsiung City held the End-of-Year Philanthropic Party for 130 registered disadvantaged households, wishing them peace in the year of 2011. The event was attended by approximately 400 participants including volunteers.

To put the participant’s mind and body at ease, the event started with the Eight Form Moving Meditation. Subsequently, a film was shown in the main hall to introduce the ideas of the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen and Dharma Drum Mountain as the method to promote the idea of ‘Protecting the Spiritual Environment’.

The monastics later explained that peace and happiness is actually determined by one’s mind. It can be experienced after slowing down one’s pace which enables one to observe the mind. As such, one is more likely to cultivate merits.

The philanthropic event ended with the distribution of relief goods and financial aid.
