CHIBS Celebrates its Thirtieth Anniversary

On 17 April, 2010, The Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies (CHIBS) hosted a special seminar to commemorate its thirtieth anniversary

Speaking on behalf of the CHIBS alumni, Venerable Guo Shyang, firstly acknowledged the significant contributions made by Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong, President of Dharma Drum Buddhist College, Venerable Huimin, President of CHIBS, Venerable Guo Jing, and Honorary Professor, Mr. Chih-Fu Lee, that have led to the successful growth and achievements of CHIBS over the last thirty years.

Venerable Guo Shyang also expressed the heartfelt gratitude of all present to the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen, who had so passionately nurtured the birth of CHIBS, and vowed to continue the Master’s compassionate efforts at promoting Chinese Buddhism for social good.

In line with the beloved Master’s teachings, Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong, encouraged students at the Institute to work diligently at their studies to ensure the continued growth of Chinese Buddhism and to always conduct themselves in a righteous way so as to serve as good role models for passing on the light of the Dharma.

In closing, the President of CHIBS, Venerable Guo Jing thanked everyone who has contributed to the growth of theInstitute over the past thirty years. CHIBS’ achievements would not have been so great without the full support of the upholders of the Dharma, as well as of our beloved Master Sheng Yen. The President vowed that CHIBS will strive to continue in its mission to promote the growth and development of Chinese Buddhism and assist in the nurturing of future Buddhist talents.
