More than one thousand attend the refuge-taking ceremony presided by Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong

On the morning of 14 March, 2010, approximately 1,400 people from across the world gathered at Taipei’s Nung Chan Monastery to become the Buddha’s followers at the refuge-taking ceremony presided by DDM’s Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong.

The Abbot President said in his remarks that in taking refuge in the Three Jewels, namely the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha, one in turn affirms one’s faith in the Three Jewels.

The Three Jewels are like a lamp that can show one the way when one has lost the way. Venerable Guo Dong further encouraged every devotee to always live with gratitude and to let the Dharma be one’s guide in life to enjoy peace and happiness at all times.

Many stalls introducing DDM’s various services were also set up at the plaza of the Monastery for the new devotees as well as for their families and friends to get to know about DDM more.
