The 2009 Grate Compassion Rite of Water and Land ends in blessings and joy
The eight-day Great Compassion Rite of Water and Land this year held at Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education ended in joy and blessings on the afternoon of 4 December, 2009, with the Farewell to the Holy Ritual.
There has been a steady increase in the number of participants, since the Great Compassion Rite of Water and Land was first held in 2007, as more and more people across the nation have learned and come to embrace the idea of protecting the spiritual environment advocated by the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen.
Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong said that the activities and programs initiated by DDM were fully in line with the compassionate vows made by the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen for the purification of one’s mind.
The Abbot President was looking forward to seeing many could be inspired to practice diligently to purify one’s vexed mind. For the first time, DDM thus setup on-line practice as an effort to invite people around the globe to together act selflessly and care for others to fill our society with love.
The Abbot President extended his great appreciation to the DDM Sangha and more than 13,000 volunteers whose hard work and contribution made it possible for the successful completion of the 2009 Great Compassion Rite of Water and Land.
Venerable Guo Dong at the end expressed his wishes that more people will learn about and practice the Buddhadharma, and they’ll together make good vows to ‘build a pure land on earth’.
