Nung Chan Monastery and Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Culture receive awards for contribution to society

On the morning of 11 September 2009, Nung Chan Monastery and Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Culture, Dharma Drum Mountain received awards at the International Convention Center of National Taiwan University from Taipei City Government for their long term humanitarian works to those in need. Venerable Jian Xin accepted on behalf of both organizations.

Nung Chan Monastery and Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Culture have won the laurels more than once from Taipei City Government, as well as from the Ministry of Interior, as non-government organizations with credit that have been consistently dedicating contribution to society.

The Deputy Mayor, Jian-Yuan Lin who presided at the ceremony, said that doing charitable work should be actively recognized and be propagated further so it could pave the way towards sustainable development and set an example to encourage people to actively contribute to society. He concluded that the ceremony was a very educational and meaningful one.
