DDMSWCF initiates the community empowerment project at Liukuei Township
On the morning of 30 August 2009, a group of community remodeling experts led by DDM Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) headed to Liukuei Township in Kaohsiung County to sit down face to face with local villagers to discuss how they could best offer their help to rebuild Liukuei Township.
The group was composed of academic scholars from Taiwan’s various educational institutes, all of whom possessed considerable experience in community remodeling, especially following the 921 earthquake eight years ago.
DDMSWCF hoped the meeting could assist the experts in devising an effective plan that would in the future give the villagers a permanent, secure and comfortable place they call home.
In the afternoon, Venerable Guo Guang led the group to visit villagers of the remote Xinkai Village in Liukuei Township as well as to pray for the deceased to rest in peace with the chant of the Heart Sutra.
