With life, there's hope
"May those affected by the disaster be able to confront their life with a positive attitude and gain peace of mind”.
This was the compassionate encouragement the Abbot President Venerable Go Dong gave to the Typhoon Morakot survivors while visiting the relief shelters positioned at Liukuei Township and Linbian Township in Kaohsiung County on 18 and 19 August 2009.
On the morning of 19 August, Venerable Chang Yuan, Venerable Chang Kuan and other six volunteers joined rescuers from the National Army to help deliver relief materials by speedboat to the villagers inhabiting in the remote Launung Village.
The Abbot President expressed his warmest care and concern on behalf of the DDM Sangha, and visited the Magistrate of Kaohsiung County, Mr. Chiuxin Yang, to discuss future joint collaboration to assist the typhoon survivors get back on their feet.
The Abbot President reiterated his message to encourage the afflicted during the tour of care and concern that " with life, there’s hope, which is our most precious wealth".
