DDMSWCF calls on volunteers to join in cleaning task

In the early hours of Wednesday, 12 August 2009, more than sixty Venerables from the DDM Sangha Community and hundreds of volunteers set out to remote villages of Linbian Township, Pintung County in southern Taiwan to provide assistance to the victims of Typhoon Morakot that hit Taiwan from 7 to 9 August. The southern and eastern regions of Taiwan were especially affected by the typhoon.

In addition to helping the victims restore their homeland, the Venerables also encouraged the victims to bravely confront the difficulties and ease the vexed mind using the Dharma.

The late Venerable Master Sheng Yen once said, “Those who aid and deliver the suffering are bodhisattvas, and those in the throes of suffering are great bodhisattvas.”

About a thousand volunteers have already responded to DDMSWCF’s appeal for humanitarian support. The areas struck by the typhoon are widespread and additional volunteers are welcome.
