DDMSWCF provides a dormitory, a kindergarten and a medical building in northern Sichuan, China
On 24 July 2009, Vice Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain, Venerable Guo Pin arrived in Sichuan to sign agreements with the Anxian County Government and Beichuan County Government to provide a dormitory, a kindergarten and a medical building on behalf of Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF).
These endowments include the dormitory of the First Elementary School in Xiushui Township of Anxian County, a kindergarten in Xiushui and a two-story medical building for ambulatory services in Chenjiaba Township of BeiChuan County.
These contributions are expected to allow more quake-affected children to receive education in school and to extend medical services to remote villages.
Venerable Guo Pin said that in line with the compassionate spirit of the Most Venerable Master Sheng Yen, DDMSWCF will continue to do its best in humanitarian works for quack-affected people hoping that they could back to a normal and peaceful life soon.
He went on to specially point out that love and care are not only sent from the Taiwanese as the Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association (DDMBA) in New York funded the building of the Kindergarten in Xiushui Township through DDMSWCF which displayed the compassion of DDM’s followers in the United States.
